What We Did

Renovated building for a pottery studio and upstairs apartment in the heart of the downtown Hamilton Main St. shopping area.

The Studio is a pottery studio and retail storefront, located in a former funeral home at 547 Main St. Initially, CDA provided an extensive evaluation and assessment of the existing conditions, as this building had been vacant for several years. After completion of the study, CDA completed Design Development and Construction Documents and The Studio began plans to move to this expanded and reimagined new location. The program included spaces for classes of all sizes, a “splat room”, display area for pottery items, private party rooms, outdoor gathering spaces, kiln area and parking.

Additionally, there is an apartment on the 2nd floor which has been fully redesigned and renovated and includes two bedrooms, kitchen, living room, bathroom, and outdoor deck area. Painted a vibrant yellow with white trim, the new exterior look is a complete change from the former funeral home image and presents an inviting welcome into the focus on art, community, and creativity inside.
