HAMILTON PRESBYTERIAN LEARNING CENTER
Hamilton City School District and the Butler County Educational Service Center, along with the Hamilton Community Foundation and United Way, collaborated to offer free preschool to 120 children in newly renovated space at the Presbyterian Church of Hamilton. Outdated and under used classroom and office space was renovated to meet Ohio Department of Education licensing guidelines and the project was completed within a 6 week turn-around time. The renovation included new configurations of classroom space, all new finishes and color selections, new casework, window treatment and new furniture. Security, technology and ADA requirements were also part of the project in this historic church space. The project required thoughtful partnering between the church and the BCESC in order to find a way to meet everyone’s needs. CDA was able to facilitate these conversations successfully and had creative solutions to offer regarding floor plan options. The educational wing is now used exclusively by the Hamilton Early Learning Center during the week and 2 classrooms are used by the church for Sunday School, giving this building active use 6 days a week.
