BLUE HILLS RESIDENCE

As the Owners of Blue Hills Farm took over ownership of this historic farmhouse from family, their goal was to make it their own and create a comfortable home in which to comfortably age in place.  The resulting ground level Master Suite addition includes a bedroom, spacious sitting area, master bath and dressing room.  French doors from the sitting area open on to an expanded patio adjacent to an existing screened in porch.  The new patio sweeps around to the front of the home and captures views of a log cabin and pond on the site.  Inside, existing spaces were repurposed into a laundry room and pantry.  The most significant change to the existing interior was the removal of a small 2nd floor bedroom to allow the kitchen ceiling to be removed and to create an open vaulted volume.  A wall was removed so that the dark and narrow kitchen could be expanded, and while still working within an existing footprint, the kitchen was transformed into a bright and inviting space – truly the heart of this lovely historic home.  CDA provided architectural and complete interior design services on this project and enjoyed a collaborative relationship with Meyer Brothers Construction to bring this project to completion.
