What We Did

Luke’s Custom Cakes makes the historic Robinson-Schwenn building this young entrepreneur’s first home.

Luke was only 12 years old when he made his first custom cake and in 2012, at age 22, opened his downtown Hamilton storefront for Luke’s Custom Cakes at the Robinson-Schwenn Building, which was built in 1866. Offering cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and more, Luke’s creativity was recently on display when he competed on the TV show Cookie Cupcake Cake with Buddy Valastro.

In a space formerly occupied by True West Coffee (CDA), we helped Luke to reimagine it to reflect his own bakery vision. Much of the remodeling work was self-performed by Luke and his family. The biggest change came in 2022, when the bakery took over additional space formerly occupied by the Lane Libraries Technology Center (CDA). Linking to the front bakery, the expanded kitchen is buried deeper into the building and offers a full-service production area to support this ever-growing cake business.
