City of Hamilton Fire Department upgrades aging fire stations and replaces historic Lindenwald station with a modern state of the art facility.
In 2018, CDA began working with the City of Hamilton Fire Department to implement comprehensive renovations to their aging fire stations. All stations are staffed by three shifts of cross trained fire and emergency medical personnel and there was a need to accommodate modified living conditions related to an increase in female personnel as well as the requirements of modern equipment. Station 21, Station 24 (historic 1920 era) and Station 25 (1970 era) all received upgrades to meet modern standards including shower rooms, laundries, private sleeping rooms, updated MEP systems, roof repair, new finishes, lighting and exterior patio upgrades.
Fire Station 26 in Lindenwald has served the Hamilton community since 1910 and was built for horse drawn pumps. After extensive data gathering, it was determined that a new fire station to accommodate an engine company and medic unit would be best suited to a new location on South Erie Hwy, in order to serve a broader spectrum of the city. As the Criteria Architect, CDA captured and reflected current programming goals for the City and Fire Department and created a Design Criteria Package which included a scope narrative, complete program description and related design plans, generic furniture plans, descriptive specifications, coordination with owner provided geo-tech for site planning. The documents also included scope and quality narratives for mechanical/electrical/plumbing specifications, materials and methods, fire suppression systems specifications, civil engineering and a review of budget and construction schedule.
The new design includes 4 pull-through bays, modern individual sleeping rooms, restrooms, meeting space, kitchen, lounge area, training operations and future growth.
