What We Did
New PK-12 school for Berne Union Local Schools transforms district facilities and education for future generations of Rockets.
In 2020, Berne Union Local Schools selected the Schorr/CDA team to plan, program, design and oversee construction for a new 800 student PK-12 school as well as other projects. Mike led the planning and programming process and the CDA team played an essential role in the design and creation of construction documents to bring the projects to completion. The CDA interiors team was focused on space planning, colors and finishes, interior design elements, casework, floor patterns, furniture selection, signage, graphics, specifications and participated throughout construction administration.
In addition to the construction of the new PK-12 school, the project included the demolition of the current PK-12 school, relocating the varsity baseball field, a new transportation/maintenance facility, and a new athletic fieldhouse. The fieldhouse included 2 basketball courts, a weight room, and a classroom.
The School district participated in the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission’s Expedited Local Partnership Program, and the K-12 school was designed to obtain LEED Silver Certification.
