ARTSPACE HAMILTON LOFTS

About: The Artspace Hamilton Lofts project is an adaptive reuse of an existing office building into 42 affordable live/work apartments, gallery and community space and 3,000+ sq ft of commercial space. In partnership with SHP, we developed rehabilitation and adaptive re-use plans for the entire commercial structure and helped secure Ohio Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits and Ohio LIHTC (housing tax credits). Mike and Cindy worked on this project from it’s inception over 5 years ago, with community engagement activities and carried the design forward as partners at SHP. The relationship with the project and Artspace continued with Mike and Cindy at Community Design Alliance through completion of the building in 2015. Cindy helped to vision a model apartment for use with marketing the project. One of the keystones of the project was the restoration of the badly deteriorated limestone masonry façade. In partnership with Messer Construction, who was the Construction Manager of the project, budgets and schedules were created and tracked throughout the project.
