The basket ball courts of Spooky Nook

What We Did

Massive public-private partnership sports development in an adaptive reuse paper mill facility.

CDA worked in partnership with the original (and now former) Owner of the site, the City of Hamilton, and sports consultants to envision a multi-sport indoor facility, focusing on court and turf surfaces for soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, football, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, and more. The project came to reality with Nook Sports, who operates a similar sports complex in Lancaster, PA.

In alliance with Cornerstone Design Architects, CDA partnered on the final design and is the Architect of Record. In addition to the sports and convention facilities, the complex includes offices, restaurants, a hotel, and other support spaces as well as site amenities. Located in a 500,000 sq ft historic former paper mill, this is one of the largest indoor sports complexes in the United States under the leadership of Nook Sports. CDA provided extensive construction administration services throughout the project and continues to work with the Owner to envision the evolution of the site and complex.
