What We Did

Reuniting the Hamilton Police Department and the Hamilton Municipal Courts under one roof, the building will “symbolize what’s good and right and strong about us.” – Judge Dan Gattermeyer

CDA was hired as the Criteria Architect for the new Hamilton Public Safety Complex, which extends from South Seventh St to East Ave between Hanover Ave and Walnut St. The 64,000 SF, one story complex will house both the HPD and the Municipal Courts.

Mike led an extensive programming and design process and generated plans, furniture plans, site plans, exterior elevations, budgets, and other documentation needed to secure project bids. Amy Hucke created exterior renderings to communicate the design to the stakeholders and the community. Ultimately, Monarch Construction was selected to lead the $32 million project

which hopes to be complete by Fall of 2024. Scott Scrimizzi, Hamilton Public Safety Director said of the project “If you live in Hamilton, you drive around Hamilton, you see all these awesome schools (designed by Mike while at SHP) and I feel good about that. This new complex, it’s going to make us all feel so awesome with what’s going on with our city, what’s going on with us. We really can’t wait to get over here.”

Chief Buchiet sums up our thoughts on this important design effort – “For our officers, the men and women of the Hamilton Police Department, this project serves as recognition. Recognition that City Council and city administration appreciates and value them. Not only do they value and appreciate them, but they are committed to supporting these officers by investing in them with the best facilities to do the important work that they do every day.”
